After two consecutive days of use for each model in everyday, sporting and travel situations, the four insulated bottles revealed very different characteristics. This comparison covers the YETI Rambler 26 oz, the Owala FreeSip 24 oz, the CamelBak Thrive Flip Straw 1 L and the CamelBak Thrive Chug 750 ml.
Above all, we examined what changes everyday use: grip, opening mechanism, protection around the drinking spout, cleaning, packed size and temperature retention. The result is clear: the YETI Rambler is the Lureox editor's pick.
Editorial independence: the editorial team purchased all four bottles with its own funds. None of these models was supplied free of charge by a brand.

YETI Rambler 26 oz: our everyday choice
Very solid, reassuring in a bag and particularly hygienic, it has become our first choice for sport, travel and places where it is difficult to preserve a clean drinking area.

Review YETI Rambler 26 oz: the most complete after use

The YETI Rambler 26 oz (769 ml) with Flip Chug stopper is the travel bottle that impressed us most. Its construction immediately inspires confidence, and it remains easy to grip by either the body or the large top handle.
Its main advantage is its very successful closure system. The cap quickly gives access to the neck, while the verrouillage C-Lock prevents it from opening while the bottle is locked. The drinking area stays covered during transport, so you do not touch the mouthpiece directly—a real advantage at the gym, on public transport or wherever hygiene is harder to control.
The flow rate is well calibrated: it allows you to drink naturally without putting it anywhere. Maintaining the temperature has given us complete satisfaction and cleaning is particularly simple. The customization visible on our copy finally brings a truly personal touch without harming the robust character of the bottle.
On the other hand, unlike the two CamelBak tested, the Rambler does not have a cushioning base. Placed on a table or a hard floor, its metal base produces a noise that we found not pleasant.
Its compromise is physical: the Rambler is quite wide and does not fit into all side pockets of bag. Its upper handle is very nice, but it does not fold. It is therefore necessary to check the available space before choosing it for a compact bag.
Owala FreeSip 24 oz reviews: the finest and most versatile drinker

L’Owala FreeSip 24 oz (710 ml) first seduces by its fine format, its clean lines and the Shy Marshmallow color of our model. It holds well in hand and slides more easily than the YETI in the narrow openings of the bags and in many cup holders.
The FreeSip system offers two ways to drink: keep the bottle straight to use the integrated straw or tilt to drink directly to the neck. This versatility is very pleasant, as is the folding handle on the top. Once closed, the drinking area is protected and general hygiene is very good.
However, we found that unpleasant plastic smell around opening. The closure feels sturdy, but the button can be pressed accidentally if the loop is not in the locked position. It therefore needs a little more care when carried among other items.
Temperature retention is very good. This makes the Owala the best choice in this comparison for travellers who want an elegant, slim bottle that is pleasant to use, provided they accept its more complex lid and the odour observed on our unit.
The absence of a damping base is also noticed when laying: on a hard surface, the metal contact produces a noise that we found unattractive.
Reviews CamelBak Thrive Flip Straw 1 L: a large volume, but a more demanding hygiene

With his 1 litre volumeThe CamelBak Thrive Flip Straw is the most generous of the four. It is suitable for those who want to limit fillings and like to drink by aspiration to straw.
Its opening mechanism seemed to us to be less practical than competing systems. The main weakness concerns maintenance and hygiene: straw, its tip and the various interstices require more careful cleaning. The suction zone also remains more exposed to the environment, which makes us less reassured for transport and busy places.
Its cushioning base limits the small shocks and makes the laying softer and quieter than on the tested YETI and l-Owala.
This model therefore retains a clear interest in its autonomy, but it is not our first choice when the simplicity of cleaning and the protection of the drinking area are priority.
Reviews CamelBak Thrive Chug 750 ml: the most reassuring screw closure

The CamelBak Thrive Chug 750 ml adopts a more classic solution: a cap that is screwed and unscrewed to access the neck. It is, in this comparison, the most difficult system to accidentally open once properly tightened.
The bottle is very well finished, with a pleasant flow and convincing temperature retention. Its handle also makes it easy to carry by hand.
Its cushioned base also protects against minor knocks and avoids the metallic clink heard when setting down the YETI and Owala.
This safety has a counterpart: you must screw and unscrew the stopper at each use. The gesture finally seems repetitive and lacks instantaneity, especially during sport or when one wants to drink quickly. It will especially suit passengers who place mechanical safety in front of the opening speed.
Which travel bottle should you choose for your needs?
Love — 9.5/10
YETI Rambler
Sport, travel and daily use

Owala FreeSip
Narrow bag pockets and urban movements
6/10 — the best for volume
CamelBak Flip Straw
Long days and great need for water
7/10 — the easiest closure to secure
CamelBak Chug
Secure transport and versatile use
If we were to keep only one, it would be YETI Rambler 26 oz. It offers the best balance of durability, hygiene, drinking comfort, maintenance and secure closure. The Owala is easier to fit in a bag, the CamelBak Flip Straw holds more water, and the CamelBak Chug keeps things simple with its screw cap. Both CamelBak bottles also stand out for their cushioned base, which feels gentler when set down day to day.
How to read this Lureox review
This comparison is based on two consecutive days of actual use for each of the four bottles and on practical observations. We did not measure insulation under laboratory conditions: comments about temperature retention reflect our experience in normal use. Odours, grip and the risk of accidental opening may also vary between units and according to how the bottle is carried.
Frequently asked questions about YETI, Owala and CamelBak bottles
What is the best bottle between YETI, Owala and CamelBak?
After use, the YETI Rambler 26 oz with Flip Chug stopper is Lureox's favourite, with a rating of 9.5/10. Its strength, hygiene, grip and locking make it the most complete choice, despite a fairly wide diameter and an unabated base.
Which travel bottle should you choose for a bag's side pocket?
The Owala FreeSip 24 oz is the easiest to slip into a bag pocket thanks to its fine format. The YETI Rambler is wider and not suitable for all openings.
Which bottle is the most hygienic on the trip?
The YETI Rambler and the Owala FreeSip protect their drinking area when the lid is closed. YETI stands out because the neck remains covered and the area where the lips are laid is not directly affected.
Straw or neck: Which system is most convenient?
Straw allows to drink without tilting the bottle, but requires more attention to cleaning. A direct neck is usually easier to maintain. The Owala FreeSip combines the two options in the same cap.
